Hey Doggie

Animal assisted interventions and training

About me

Dogs have always been a massive part of my adult life, what started as adopting a rescue dog then let to fostering over 30 dogs, I’ve learned just how unique every dog is and how important understanding, patience and kindness are in building strong relationships.

I am a now a qualified dog trainer and continue to study to further my understanding and knowledge of animal behaviour and training in a positive & kind way.

In 2023 I trained with PAWS Therapy & Assistance dogs to become an Animal Assisted Support practitioner, initially working with Nelly, and more recently Bramble has joined the Hey Doggie team.

In addition, I mentor, train and assess others on their journey to become incredible animal assisted support teams, I honestly believe I have the best job in the world working with my brilliant dogs and meeting plenty of awesome humans too!

What is Animal Assisted Support (AAS)?

For many years, dogs have worked with humans in a variety of roles, but now, more than ever, they are being used to help support us in so many ways; guide dogs, hearing, medical assistance, medical alert & therapy are just some of the incredible jobs they can do.

All Therapy Dogs have to be calm, confident & friendly, but to offer AAS both dogs and handlers must train further, we learn about topics such as co-regulation, trick training, zones of regulation, trigger stacking, boundaries , advocation… the list goes on!

The goal is to support and improve mental & physical health, confidence, social skills, motor skills and engagement, each session is carefully planned and tailored to the individual or group taking into account abilities of the individuals, but most importantly making sure the dogs are happy, healthy and enjoy interacting with the clients.

We’d love to hear from you if you think we can help in any way!
